Faith is the strong belief in God, giving Him complete trust and confidence. When spouses share a strong Christian faith, Jesus Christ is the center of their personal lives, and the center of their marriage. They practice this faith by attending Church services together and praying together. They witness their faith in the way they live their lives, the way they dress, the way they decorate their homes, and the Truths they teach their children. Their friends and coworkers know they can go to them for prayers and advice. This faith is not shaken by tragedy or hardship. Like the early Christians, persecution only makes their faith stronger.
St. Bernadette experienced visions of the Blessed
Mother, who called herself the Immaculate Conception, at a grotto in Lourdes,
France. Bernadette’s faith helped her
through rigorous interviews by Church and government officials, during which
she never changed her story. A
miraculous spring of water appeared at the site of the apparitions, at which
many people have been cured of all kinds of ailments. Bernadette herself said, “One must have faith
and pray; the water will have no virtue without faith.”
Dear Lord, through the intercession of St. Bernadette,
please grant to this couple an increase of the virtue of Faith, so that their
belief in You will never waver, and they will be pure, peaceable, gentle,
reasonable, merciful, and produce good fruits in the rest of their life
together. Please also grant the virtue
of Faith to each of their children and grandchildren, that all may worship the
One, True God together as a family. Amen.
