The joyful person possesses a lasting happiness that comes from having God at the center of his life. The joyful couple has put God at the center of their marriage. When the inevitable sorrows of life afflict them, they rely on their faith in God, and their hope of eternal life to sustain the essential joy in their hearts.
St. John Bosco had a joyful
personality from childhood, and always wanted to make everyone happy. He attributed this joy to a life centered on
God. As a priest working with youth, he used
magic and acrobatics to attract and engage them, then taught them about the
Faith. His mission was to keep the boys
out of trouble and help them find work.
Dear Lord, through the
intercession of St. John Bosco, please grant a joyful spirit to this couple,
that they may not be weighed down by troubles, but, with You as the center of
their marriage, find joy in every situation. Please also increase the virtue of
joy in all their relationships with their family and friends. May their home be
a place of joy for all who enter. Amen.
